Chief Election Commissioner of India VS Sampat and other officials who arrived here on Monday will undertake a detailed review of preparations for Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha election on Tuesday at Narmada Bhavan from 9 am.
Election Commissioners HS Brahma and Dr Naseem Zaidi, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudhir Tripathi, Directors General PK Dash and Akshay Raut, Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Jaideep Govind, Additional Chef Electoral Officer Vl Kanta Rao will also be present at the meeting, said sources.
The Commission will hold discussions over election preparations made so far with civil and police officers including Divisional Commissioners, IGs, district election officers/collectors, DIGs and SPs. Before the meeting, Sampat will also inaugurate a photo exhibition on SVEEP Plan activities at Narmada Bhavan. At the exhibition, various voter awareness activities being conducted in rural areas under SVEEP Plan have been displayed through photographs.
After the meeting, the Commission will discuss election preparations with Additional Chief Secretary Finance, Principal Secretary Institutional Finance, Chief Income Tax Commissioner and Director General (Investigation-IT and Enquiry) from 3.30 pm. From 3.45 to 4 pm, the Commission review election preparations at a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home) and State DGP. Election Commission of India has issued directives to Chief Electoral officers regarding printing of date and number on print line and advance publicity material. The Chief Electoral Officer has conveyed the directives in the form of a circular to all district election officers.
If publicity material prepared for a candidate in advance, if used in electioneering after filing of nomination then expenses incurred on such materials will be included in candidate’s election expenses.
The commission has also clarified that it is not necessary to print date, number and number of copies on print line since this information is being sought from publishers and printers through annexures 1 and 2 of the declaration. However, publicity material must bear name of publisher and printer.
