Separate awards have been announced for electronic and print media. December 15, 2013, is the last date for submitting entries for the awards.
It may be noted that the Election Commission (EC) had selected Zee News for the national media award on voter education for its outstanding campaign towards creating voters’ awareness in the Assembly elections (January-March) 2012, especially in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The Commission has directed media houses to write their name, address, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address on the entries. The entries should be sent to Rahul Sharma, Under Secretary (Media), Election Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, Ashok Nagar, New Delhi.
Further, information about the awards can be obtained from phone number 011-2305270. Norms for the award have also been set by the jury. These include quality of campaign, area of coverage and impact on people. If entries are submitted in a language other than Hindi/English then their translation in English will have to be attached. For electronic media, CD or DVD of the campaign and its duration will have to be given.
Call center to facilitate voters A round-the-clock call center has been opened at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to facilitate voters. Information can be sought from telephone number 1950 of the call center. To facilitate voters, 10 lines have been linked with this number.
