The ‘Earth Conference’ was organized at Maulana Azad Central library on Tuesday, observing the World Environment Day. Sixty young speakers attended this conference organized by the Civil Services Club. The theme of this conference was Water for Future.

The session was chaired by Ankita Yadav. The youth expressed their views on different topics like How to save every drop of rain, How to prevent misuse of water in daily life and How to ensure availability of water in the future.

The young minds shared different viewpoints and different outlooks with each other. The discussion was picked up from the water management in India. The youngsters discussed that water crisis in India is not due to lack of water, but due to the wrong management of water. For thousands of years India has been facing both floods and droughts, but earlier people knew the trick of living between these two calamities, but, today people are now almost unaware.

Massive increase in income of the people has created a water-divide between rich and poor in India. Water management should be the only target in India and hence every drop of rain should be preserved for future. The youth also discussed that it is a duty of citizens as well as government. The youth also discussed that availability of water in a large country like India is only possible through ‘community water management’ and for this, the country needs to revive the thousands years old techniques and work on "Traditional Knowledge". Every person should be used to wash only the water used in his house which cannot be recycled again. Using correct chemicals, we can recycle many of the used water several times.
