The Eastern Region Power Distribution Company is going to provide yet another facility to its consumers through e-payment of electricity bills. Now, consumers may also pay their bills using apps of Airtel Money, Vodafone and M-Paisa through their smart phones. Besides, facility of bill payment will also be available on ICICI portal. The facility will commence from November 15.
Airtel and Vodafone users will have to download Airtel Money and M-Paisa apps on their mobile phones. Electricity bill of consumer will be visible as soon as they feed service number in the apps, which can be paid with just a click of a button.
It will be a safe mode of payment of electricity bills for consumers. Amount of concerning consumer’s bill will be deducted from his recharge money of Airtel Money and Vodafone M-Paisa.
This will be a safe payment since it will not be linked with user’s bank account. The company creates an account for Airtel Money and Vodafone M-Paisa.
This account may be recharged by consumers for payment of their electricity bills. Amount of bill is debited from consumer’s account on mobile and not bank account.
Consumers may also see their electricity bills on the portal of ICICI Bank and pay them online. Besides, consumers may also give standing order to the bank for immediate payment of their electricity bills.
The company has authorised 44 banks for payment of electricity bills through linkage with payment gate of bill desk. Through this gate, consumers of the company are making online payment against their bills. Consumers will be further facilitated after commencement of this facility on Airtel Money and Vodafone M-Paisa and ICICI Bank’s portal. The facility will commence in the last week of November.
