Aimed at simplifying the process of importing and exporting goods for traders in Madhya Pradesh, the State Government has launched ‘E-gatiman’ scheme, wherein traders would be required to submit way-bills through Short Message Service (SMS) instead of ‘Form 49’. While talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Department’s Minister Jayant Malaiya said, “Way-bills could be downloaded in electronic format and submitted through SMS. The trader would receive a barcode number on his cellular phone that could be shown at the check posts of the Commercial Tax Department.”

He claimed that He said the service would reduce the cumbersome process of downloading Form-49, submitting it at checkposts to get gatepasses, which take a lot of time leading to traffic jams at check-posts.He said the requirement of showing ‘E-gatiman’ number would also be there in the event of the date and the time for goods entering the state being pre-determined. Under such circumstances, the vehicle concerned could pass through the green channel.

“E-gatiman would remove the obstacles in the previous systems such as availability of ‘Form 49’ or technical requirements for downloading the form online.Besides, long queues at check posts would be a thing of the past. Also, the new system would bring more revenue to the state exchequer,” the Minister said.
