Deputy Election Commissioner of India Alok Shukla and Director General Akshay Raut held discussions on poll preparations with district nodal officers of SVEEP plan and divisional commissioners at a meeting at Chief Election Office here on Wednesday.
Chief Electoral Officer Jaideep Govind, Director SVEEP Plan Dhirendra Ojha, SVEEP Plan’”s Madhya Pradesh’”s Icons Rajiv Verma and Prahlad Tipaniya were also present on the occasion. Akshay Raut exhorted officers to accelerate pace of SVEEP Plan being implemented to create voter awareness.
He said that this poll-related programme should not be linked with Government schemes. Efforts should also be made through the plan to motivate youths, women and urban voters to ensure maximum polling in elections. Union Government’”s Madhya Pradesh-based office of DAVP and field publicity offices should also be linked with SVEEP Plan activities.
Raut said that nodal officers carry the maximum responsibility of connecting voters. They will have to discharge their responsibility effectively for inclusion of voters’” names in electoral rolls and ensuring maximum polling. Nodal officers should work with impartiality and transparency. local and influential people can also be made partners in implementation of SVEEP.
All districts should chalk out their respective SVEEP plans and get them incorporated in state plan. Raut informed that before elections, proformas of an affidavit will also be sent to families through students and added that coming time is very challenging in view of ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections in the state.
Alok Shukla directed for requisite improvements in baseline survey conducted by Directorate of Economics and Statistics.
Through presentations, Commissioner Higher Education VS Niranjan, Commissioner Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Vishwamohan Upadhyay, Commissioner Tribal Development Umakant Umrao, Additional Director Public Relations lajpat Ahuja, Director Press Information Bureau Ajay Chaturvedi, Additional Commissioner Urban Administration and Development DS Shukla, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Singh Baghel, Doordarshan Director SN Singh, Programme Officer of All India Radio SM Adhikari and Additional Director of Rajya Shiksha Kendra Aruna Gupta informed the Election Commission officers about poll preparations made by their respective departments.
