Dubey urges transparency in deputy appointment

Published on:

Right To Information (RTI) activist from the State capital Ajay Dubey on Monday urged lokayukta PP Naolekar to adopt the transparent process in the appointment of his deputy in Madhya Pradesh.

Dubey in a letter to the lokayukta said, “I have come to know that the present Deputy lokayukta of State is going to retire on January 31. The State has started the process to fill the post. According to S 3 sub s. 1 (b) of MP lokayukta and Deputy lokayukta Act 1981 for the appointment of Deputy lokayukta the State Government will consult you. In this regard, I would like to inform you that I had already requested the State Government to adopt the transparent process such as by inviting applications through advertisement which will help Government and lokayukta Sangathan to find the best suitable person for this important post.”

He said, “it is also mandatory for the Government to respect Article 16 of the Indian Constitution which speaks of equality of opportunity.”

“My objective to write this letter is to request you to adopt the same procedure in the State in a transparent manner.

“Kindly accept this request and set the precedent and history will remember you for this pro people approach, he added.

The RTI activist said that I have come to know that the State Government has already decided the name of the person to be appointed for the post of Up lokayukta. I am afraid that the person under consideration is not having integrity.

Dubey, also a Member of Transparency International India said that it is also important to mention that in response to my petition regarding the appointment of the Information Commissioners in the State Information Commission, MP High Court has ordered the State Government to advertise the post for the appointment of the Commissioners in State Information Commission.

As a result of which the MP Government invited the applications for the abovementioned posts. Keeping in view the importance of the issue of transparency it should be respected in this anti-corruption watch dog body, he added.
