A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) posted with CID branch at State Police Headquarters was shot dead at his house in Awadhpuri area of the State Capital on Wednesday evening.
IG Bhopal Jaideep Prasad after the visit to hospital said that the accused was acquainted with the deceased. At the time of the incident daughter of deceased was present where he was shot. She is not in a position to record her statements while son of deceased have spoken but he is not aware of the details in depth.
The deceased was shot from point blank range accused by accused identified as Himanshu Singh who is on the run and teams have been formed to nab the accused. In the preliminary investigation it has been found that the reason behind the murder was family dispute and reason of the dispute remains unknown, he added.
IG Prasad said that Ahirwar was shot in chest which proved fatal the weapon used in the murder could not be ascertained as post mortem report is awaited. The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and started further investigation. The body was sent for the post mortem after the preliminary investigation.
After the murder initially it was found that two accused were present at the time of the incident but police denied of the fact and said it would be investigated. The deceased was posted with CID branch at state headquarters and used to live in Awadhpuri area.
The Accused opened fire at Ahirwar at around 7.30 pm before the incident. The accused and deceased were talking and what went wrong between the two would be investigated.
