The MP Nagar police has nabbed a drug peddler near District Court on Thursday and recovered drugs worth Rs 10,000 from their possession.
Police said that acting on a tip-off, regarding a man carrying drugs, was nabbed near District Court premises and when he was searched 32 gram of Cannabis resin (Hashish). The accused was identified as Anil Malviya of Chandbad. The details of procurement and delivery of the drugs would be searched in the further investigation.
After the initial investigation police have registered a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act. The source of the drugs and their scheduled delivery to the customer in the city and nearby areas would be probed.
In the initial investigation it was found that the accused was scheduled to deliver the drugs in the city. The accused is a drug addict and deals in selling of drugs along with its consumption.
The accused has been booked for possession of arms illegally and has been involved in criminal activities.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at Balbeer Nagar under Chinbhatti police station on Thursday. The deceased identified as Rhea Thapa was found hanging and rushed to nearby hospital where she was declared dead.
Police said that the deceased was a class 12 student. Reason behind the suicide remained unknown which would be investigated. Family members are yet to record their statements. After the preliminary investigation police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and started further investigation.
