Soon after the 72-hour ban imposed on BJP candidate in Bhopal, Pragya Thakur, was over, the district returning officer (DRO), Bhopal, slapped another notice on the saffron leader accusing her of campaigning during the ban period.
Main ek sanyasi hun. Mandir, Puja Paath, aadhyatm, rashtra kalyan aur gau mata mere jivan ka aadhar hai mujhe isse rokne wale apne jivan ke bare me sochen, (I am a seer and Temples, prayers and spirituality are integral parts of my life and anyone who prevents me from these should care for their lives), told Thakur to mediapersons on EC’s fresh notice.
Sadhvi also started her campaign this morning after the ban ended.
Notably, Thakur’s remarks on Babri Masjid and late Hemant Karkare, the Election Commission of India had banned her form campaigning from 6am on Thursday for three days.
However, the sadhvi was silent in this period but kept visiting temples and religious events and other places and also attracted huge crowd in the process. She also used a poem to target her opponents.
To mediapersons, she narrated a poem that meant—I live in spiritual world and tempels and prayers are my basics, let others say what they want to.
When asked as how she spent 72 hours of ban, she said she thoroughly enjoyed the period adding the almighty always does good and alleged her enemies were thinking it was masterstroke but it was all wish of the god.
She later also paid a visit to former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s residence and greeted Chouhan couple on their marriage anniversary.
The Congress had complained against the sadhvi that she was campaigning through temple runs and other events despite an EC ban against her.
