When leaving the house, cover your head with a cap, dupatta, umbrella, gamchha or any other cloth, avoid coming in direct sunlight. If it is not necessary to go out, stay at home and do your essential work in the morning and evening if possible. Keep an eye on the temperature through TV, radio, newspaper etc.

Children, pregnant women, mental patients, people suffering from serious diseases, blood pressure, heart disease etc. should be extra careful. Normally the body temperature is 36.4 °C to 37.2 °C. In case of heatstroke there is a rise in body temperature, heat rashes, swelling of hands and feet and ankles, fainting, muscle spasms, etc.. Heat stroke can put heart, respiratory and kidney patients in trouble.

If you have come from the sun and experience dizziness, unconscious, nausea, vomiting, headache, rapid thirst, and rapid heartbeat, get to a cool place immediately and start drinking cold beverages. Avoid drinking tea, coffee, soft drinks and beverages that contain high amounts of sugar.

These substances reduce water content in the body and cause stomach cramps. Avoid eating stale food. Maximum water intake is the best solution. If the problem persists for more than an hour, seek medical advice.
