Awadhpuri police booked a man and his family members, for a dowry death of a 26-year-old married woman who committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at her residence in New Foes Colony on March 20 and it was found that the deceased was harassed by her husband and in-laws.
According to the police, the deceased Aarti Kaithal committed suicide after she was harassed by her husband Satish Kaithal and in-laws demanding dowry.
Initially after the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem and a case under section 174 of the CrPC was registered by the police. Police found claims of harassment were made by her husband as sister of deceased had also claimed that husband used to harass her.
The police registered a case under section 304 B of the IPC and sections 5 and 10 of the Dowry Prohibition Act against accused.
Aarti married to Satish around 14 months ago and after few days of the marriage she was harassed for dowry and later depressed over the harassment she committed suicide.
