A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly harassing wife for dowry after which she committed suicide at Sagar Premium Towers on Monday. According to police, deceased Basanta Bhatai, 30, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling of her house, left a suicide note stating that her husband Sobhakar Bhatai used to assault and harass her by demanding dowry.
Police has booked Sobhakar on the basis of the circumstantial evidences and allegedly continuously harassing his wife that forced the deceased to take the extreme step. A case has been registered under section 306 and 498 A of the IPC after the preliminary investigation. The body has been sent for the post mortem.
