Senior Congress leader and newly elected Ratlam – Jhabua Parliamentarian Kantilal Bhuria has expressed doubts over the DNA report of Petlawad blasts main accused Rajendra Kaswa saying it came too late and should have been conducted in AIIMS in New Delhi.
On Sept 12 this year, a major explosion took place in a house in this district's Petalwad area where gelatin rods were kept. At least 88 people were killed in the blast while about 150 were injured. Main accused Kaswa was missing after the blast. The godown in which the blast took place was taken on rent by Kaswa, who was in the business of taking up contracts to build wells and was licensed to store explosives. The DNA report of an unidentified body was matched with DNA of Kaswa’s son and brother and the forensic report confirmed the body was of Kaswa. However, Bhuria has raised question about the identity of the body which was kept in Indore’s Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital. Bhuria said on Tuesday that the DNA test should have been conducted in Delhi’s AIIMS but the Govt failed to do so. The report came out this Monday after 85 days of the incident, which also raises doubts, he said.
Meanwhile, Police had handed over the parts of the body to Kaswa's family and the last rites were performed in Indore on Wednesday. Notably, DNA tests conducted on samples sent to Sagar laboratory had confirmed on Monday that Kaswa was dead. The Potli Number 6 contained Kaswa's remains that was dismembered and mutilated beyond recognition. State police had booked Kaswa under section 304 IPC and 3/4 of Explosives Act and have been searching him since the day of the blast.
