Discontent in BJP over ticket to Sanjar, CM takes reins to pacify members

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken the reins to pacify the discontent against the BJP candidate from Bhopal, Alok Sanjar.

Senior Cabinet colleague of Chouhan and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Babulal Gaur on Monday lost his cool before the Chief Minister and questioned as on whose recommendations Sanjar was made a party candidate. “The opinion of the legislators was not taken before finalising the candidate from Bhopal,” Gaur said.

Another MlA from Bhopal, Rameshwar Sharma, also expressed his angst against Sanjar for reaching in his constituency without informing him, while Narela MlA Vishwas Sarang told him to visit his constituency on his own arrangements.

This is the beginning of BJP State office secretary Alok Sanjar’s problems within his own party since he has been named party’s lok Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal.

Though Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has come to the rescue of Sanjar and told the dissatisfied party legislators that the things have moved far ahead and now it is no time to debate over the issue and rather work should be unitedly done to accomplish ‘Mission 29’ for realising Mission 272 (for making BJP) Government at the Centre.

Chouhan reached the BJP State office on Monday and tried to pacify the leaders that are angry over party decision to field Sanjar. Party sources said there are talks within the party that two candidates might be changed which are — Jyoti Dhurve from Betul and Nagendra Singh from Khajuraho.

Notably, in opposition to ticket of Dhurve, Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah’s brother joined Congress recently and the party is planning to field him from Betul. The party is also considering fielding a Brahmin leader from Khajuraho, despite the fact that former Minister Nagendra Singh has filed nomination.
