A rib tickling comedy play ‘Dil Ki Dukaan’ was staged here on Wednesday at Shaheed Bhavan.

The play was performed on the first day of a two-day theatre festival, organised by Ekta Sanstha, Bhopal. Written by Rajendra Sharma, the comedy play was directed by Sumit Dwiwedi.

The play was all about a relationship between a husband and a wife, which takes a twist ensuing comedy situations. The story revolves around heart transplants and how the hearts changes the thoughts of a human being as well.

Dr. Deepak (a quack) opens a veterinary clinic (Buffalo specialist) but fails, after that he converts it into a Dog Clinic and after its failure he became a heart specialist who transplants hearts of opposite nature. He also flirts with his nurse who was his class fellow and there also is a funny compounder in the clinic.

What happens when someoneRs s heart is replaced by this quackij He transplants the hearts of opposite nature to his patients. Dhaniram's wife, Rani, is fed up with his miserly ways. Another character, Pritamlal is a drunkard while Amarnath is a straightforward person. Fed up with the peculiarities of their husbands, the wives take them to a shop which sells hearts which would change the characters of the person after transplantation.

While Dhaniram gets the heart of a badshah and adopts the ways of an emperor, Pritamlal becomes a sage and is all set to renounce worldly pleasures. Amarnath becomes a confidence trickster. Even now their mannerisms create problems for their wives, who in turn curse the shop owners who sold the hearts.

The play was wonderfully performed by the artists leaving the Bhopalites glued to their seats till the end.
