Digvijay's charge on gram purchase baseless: BJP

Published on:

Refuting Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s charges of scam in gram purchase, State’s BJP unit chief and MP Nandkumar Singh Chouhan termed them baseless.

Chouhan in a statement here on Thursday said, “The charges of scam in gram purchase levelled by Congress general secretary are baseless and do not have any substance.”

Chouhan said Singh was putting up question mark over the then United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government’s decision through his allegations and in the process was accomplishing his pledge of ending Congress.

He said the name of Messer’s laghu Krashak Vyapar Sangh taken by Singh in his allegation was actually a Central Government enterprise and that was made the nodal agency by the Agriculture Ministry of the then Central Government in the year 2012. And till then this enterprise was purchasing pulses and oilseeds on Government support prices and the whole process was carried out through Farmer’s Producer Company (FPC). The Union Government also provided technical and financial assistance to this organisation, he added.

The senior BJP leader said that the allegations seemed like scenes of scams during Congress regime have settled in Singh’s eyes and that is why he sees scams everywhere. The Congress leader was also not aware that that the laghu Krashak Vyapar Sangh made payment directly in the bank accounts of farmers, while the FSSC separately pays commission for the purchasing services to the FPC, he added.

He said that the FPC was a registered organisation of the farmers in that a minimum of one thousand farmers are added.

The BJP state president said that Madhya Pradesh was the leading State in the country where 70 registered FPC’s were working and are encouraging over 100 FPCs. Digvijay Singh is anti farmer and seems like that he is working in favour of middlemen, he added.
