Digvijay targets Kejri, Modi over fund-raising dinner

Congress general secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has taken a dig at his opponents Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for starting a fund-raising dinner culture in the country.

Singh said he was not sure if Kejriwal really represented the common man.  Targeting Kejriwal for his fund-raising dinner in Bangalore, he questioned whether the AAP leader, who was charging Rs20,000 per person for having a meal with him, can claim to represent the common man.

Singh said there was a huge difference between Kejriwal and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who goes to the poorest of the poor, sits down on the floor in their hut, holds hands and eats with them. In sharp contrast, Kejriwal charges Rs20,000 per person for having dinner with him, Digvijay said in a tweet. "Kejriwal aam aadmi hai toh khaas aadmi kaun hai (If Kejriwal is a common man, then who is the VIP)," Singh quipped.

The Congress general secretary also lost no time in tweeting on a media report on Modi having dinner with paid invitees at Hotel Ashoka in New Delhi on March 26. His Twitter post said: "Rahul Gandhi — Has dinner with Dalits and Poor  while Modi - charges Rs1 l to Rs2.5 cr to have dinner. Choice is yours!"
