State spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rameshwar Sharma has alleged that Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has made it a practice of being in limelight by making controversial statements in favour of terrorist ourganisations. At times, Singh takes U turn on his statements despite the fact that at several times Congress has dissociated itself from his statement terming his personal opinion.
Sharma further alleged that Singh praised Zakir Naik and called him a messenger of peace. When he came to know that Naik has given objectionable statement and tricked the minorities, he took a U-turn from his support, Sharma added.
In such a situation Congress should clarify whether it agrees with Singh’s statement or not. If not, then Congress should ask for explanation from Singh, Sharma added.
Sharma alleged that this is not the first time Singh has shown soft corner for terrorists and he even respected the face of terrorism Osama Bin laden by calling him ‘laden Ji’. He even declared the encounter at Batla House as fake and visited the families of the terrorists killed by the security forces, in Rampur, Sharma added.
This move was totally condemned by the families of martyrs in that encounter. The then Home Minister P Chidambaram also said that the one killed by the security forces were terrorists.
Sharma further said that the video of Singh that got viral in 2012 in which he was calling Zakir Naik the messenger of peace, Congress must clarify if that is his policy, Sharma added. If not, then why is Singh getting so much liberty to speak in support of terrorists, Sharma asked.
