Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress general secretary continuing with his jibe against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his alleged role in the MPPEB scam, on Thursday accused him of running an organised gang of corruption in Madhya Pradesh. Talking to mediapersons at Indore Press Club, Digvijay said that MPPEB scam was perhaps the first scam in the history of independent India as far as his memories goes wherein about 2,000 persons have been arrested and still SIT has a list of another 800 persons whose names have figured in the scam.
Reiterating his allegations against Nitin Mahindra, Singh accused him of deleting data in connection with the scam. He said when data related to the scam had been retrieved on July 18, 2013 and the same had been saved but on the same day there was a tampering with the data. Name of ex-CM was added in place of minister. Besides, names of Rajbhawan and minister were added to that data. He alleged tampering of the data at the forensic science laboratory of Gujarat which has a history of tampering with the data.
Even the CBI had sought an action against this laboratory during its inquiry into Nusrat Jahan case, he alleged. Questioning intent of the government, the senior Congress leader said if the Chief Minister was innocent, why not he sent the hard disk for testing in the forensic laboratories of Chandigarh, Delhi or HyderabadIJ Digvijay said that CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan cannot be exonerated of charge against him as according to SIT chairman, investigation into the scam was still continuing.
Making a mockery of the State Chief Minister for seeking an audience with AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Digvijay said that his urgency of meeting Sonia Gandhi shows as to what extent he had got panicky in connection with the Congress charges against him in VYAPAM scam. While meeting Soniaji, Shivraj Singh must be ready with volley of questions related to the scam that may be raised by her.
Talking about Rahul Gandhi, he said the BJP leaders had been unnecessarily raking up the issue of Rahul Gandhi's sabbatical, whereas the Prime Minister and Home Minister had all the information about latter's location of vacation as Rahul Gandhiji enjoys SPG protection.
