Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he is consulting legal experts to take action against former Chief Minister and Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh. Describing Congress’ allegations as baseless, unfounded and false in the case of alleged recruitment irregularities in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), Chouhan said that it is an ill-attempt to divert the ongoing investigation. He termed Digvijay Singh’s allegations as highest limit of wickedness. It is an evil attempt to malign the image and reputation, he said.
Chouhan said that he himself initiated an enquiry into the irregularities immediately after they surfaced. Going a step further, the enquiry was ordered to be conducted by the STF. The accused would not be spared. He said that it has become intolerant for some to see a person from average becoming a Chief Minister who is also ably running the Government. He said that repeated defeats of the Congress has shaken its mass base and it has gone frenzied. It has lost strength to compete with the BJP on ground and has resorted to an act of tarnishing individual image and personal reputation.
“Even my wife and sons were not spared,” he said, adding that the Congress is facing extinction from Madhya Pradesh. In recent civic body elections, it lost by 14-0. Whenever Assembly session begins, such allegations pour in, he added. Chouhan said that the Congress has come to a conclusion that it can not make a come back without maligning the image. No allegation it could prove and in fact has become accustomed of levelling allegations. He said that he never did any misdeed in public life nor would ever do. It is better to die than resorting to misdeeds, he added.
Chief Minister said that the opposition Congress is raising questions on the investigation which is ongoing under the direction of High Court and is being monitored by the SIT. The Congress has not done anything concrete for the people, Chouhan said adding that whenever floods come in, people assemble at one place to save themselves. The similar situation has arisen for the Congress.
The flood of supporters of BJP prompted the Congress leaders to come closer. He said that he would have resigned several times had he honoured such illogical demands of the Congress. He said that the High Court and the Supreme Court have found the investigation going in the right direction. He said, “People know about me. I am in the service of the people and leading the State towards on the path of development.”
