Diggy slams gau rakshaks, tweets stray cows pics

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh here on Friday slammed gau rakshaks by tweeting pics of stray cows sitting on the highway.

Besides, he cornered Kamal Nath Government demanding immediate action on shifting the cows in shelter homes. On Friday morning, Singh tweeted a picture of stray cows sitting at the Bhopal-Indore highway with the message that this is the status of this highway where stray cows remain seated and often die in road accidents.

“Where are our gaumata loving Gaurakshaks,” hit back Singh at right wings who often make headlines over their cow vigilantism acts. Singh also demanded that the state government should immediately shift these cows to the cow sanctuary or any gaushala.

“Kamal Nath ji, if you could do the same, you would feature among true gaubhakts,” said the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister adding that the act would also offer a lesson to the BJP leaders.

Singh known for his anti-right wing views has been hitting out at these outfits over one reason or the other in the recent past.

Notably, Kamal Nath government had also announced to establish 1,000 modern cowsheds across the state after coming to power.

Commenting on the tweets, Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta claimed that Singh’s remarks aren’t targeted at the state government which is busy implementing cow protection measures. He claimed that former CM has shown the mirror to fake cow bhakts who despite being in power in last 15 years could not build any new gaushalas.

For obvious reasons, the BJP hit out at Congress over the tweets.

MLA Rameshwar Sharma alleged that no work has been done on cow protection as announced by the Kamal Nath government claiming that after Congress came to power, hundreds of cows have died in the gaushalas and cow sanctuary established by former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
