Diggy has committed a criminal offence: Patwa

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa on Sunday strongly disapproved of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh's open admission of an affair with a TV journalist, saying he has “crossed all limits of decency”.

“Admitting the relationship and expressing his love openly for another woman amounts to crossing all limits of decency,” the 90-year old BJP leader said at a press meet in the State BJP headquarters here. “I strongly reproach him for this act because having an affair with a married woman, who is not legally divorced, is a criminal offence,” Patwa said.

Asked to comment on some BJP leaders who have congratulated Singh and described the issue as his personal matter, he said they are not aware of Hindu culture. Criticising Singh, Patwa said that the act done by Singh could only be termed as shameless and could not be permitted according to the culture and traditions of the society. He assumes the act as condemning and disgracing.

After publicly accepting the relationship there is no scope of any possibility of any conspiracy against the senior Congress leader, said Patwa. Until the divorce does not get legal approval, the marriage remains valid and to maintain relationship with such a woman would be considered as punishable offence.

In the law eyeing a woman is considered as crime and such person is considered adulterous and comes under the category which is punishable. Patwa accepted that Digvijay Singh was his family friend but now after this revelation Singh would never visit his house.
