Several awareness campaigns regarding 'traffic' organised in different periods during the year by traffic police in the district and punishment and penalties are also done to curb errant driving and make commuters follow traffic rules for safety of pedestrians, other drivers and their own safety told Urban Traffic police Bhopal.
In order to reduce the number of road accidents and the number of dead among these victims of road accidents a special campaign was launched by the Urban Traffic Police, Bhopal against the drivers of minors in the year 2022.
Under this campaign, action was taken against 164 minor drivers under Motor Vehicle Act. The cases of these drivers were presented in the Court and Rs 13 ,94,000 fine was imposed against the parents by the Court.
Another major risk category is of drunk and drive cases and with the aim to reduce number in this category a special campaign was launched in the year 2022 by the Urban Traffic Police, Bhopal against drunk drivers.
In this campaign, action was taken against 1082 drivers of drunken driving under the Motor Vehicle Act. The cases of these drivers were presented in the Court. In which penalty of Rs 1,08,20,000 was imposed. Along with this, cases have been sent by the Traffic Police Bhopal to the Regional Transport Officer, Bhopal for suspension of license.
The traffic police would continue to organised campaigns with targeted errant drivers who violate traffic rules and never abide by law to run on the road.
