'Dial 100' gets another launch date again

Published on:

Highly awaited and anticipated scheme ‘Dial 100’ has got a new date of launch in November, but still a lot of works are need to be completed.

In the past, the scheme could not commence despite having come out with two dates in the past.

Superintendent of Police (Dial 100) Ankit Shukla feels that the delay has provided time for incorporating few good things. Apart from using Dial 100 during emergency a whatsapp number 7587600100 would be made available that could be used to lodge complaint and could provide photograph and video regarding complaint.

He said that all the preparations have been made and out of 800 units 135 Mobile Data Terminal units have been installed by the company.

Around 800 vehicles have been bought by the company and the installation work of equipments has been completed, but the Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) are yet to be installed in the vehicles, he added.

Shukla said that the company BVG India ltd has been awarded with a five year contract of providing the vehicles fitted with all the necessary equipments. The vehicles would be maintained by the company.

The number could prove very useful as more detail information about the incident could be made available.

MDT is a computer tablet which would be with the vehicles and would be used for taking pictures and video. The tab could be secured by fingerprint and would be connected with the central control to exchange information regarding the complaints.

He said that new and more advanced things could be incorporated but it has to undergo approvals and would incur cost and time which has been highly invested in the scheme already so the first priority is to start and make it fully operational.
