Musical performances under Uttaradhikar series at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum delighted the Bhopalites. Dhrupad Gayan and Kathakali dance were performed at the museum here on Sunday.

The event began with Dhrupad Gayan by Supriyo Maitro. He began the series of tuneful performance with Raga Bhopali. After this, the audience took pleasure of the traditional bandish 'Tan Talwar Tan ki Shifar liye firta gunijan’. Supriyo Maitro wrapped up the presentation by bhajan ‘Shiva Shiva Shankar Mahadev’.

During the Dhrupad gayan, Supriyo Maitro was accompanied by Deobjak Chakraborty and Piyush Patil in vocal. Apurba Lal Manna at Pakhawaj. The performance was much liked by the audience.

After singing Kalamandalam Arvind presented Kathakali dance with his fellow artists. They began with 'Prahlad Charitham'. In the dance presentation, the artists presented the story of Lord Vishnu’s devotee Prahlad and his devotion on the stage with beautiful and capturing expressions and dance skills.

According to legend, Hiranyakashyap was the king of Dattas and his son's name was Prahlaad. Prahlad was the devotee of Lord Vishnu and despite the tortures and harassment of Hiranyakashipu, he did not leave Vishnu devotion. In the end, being extremely deplorable with son Prahlad, Hiranyakaship said - I am the trilok of Nath.

There is no other God except me, where is he? Prahlada replied: God is omnipresent. They are seated everywhere. Hiranyakashyap got the need and said - Is your Vishnu also in this pillar of the palace? Prahlada answered yes. So Hiranyakaship attacked the column with a handful.

At that time Lord Vishnu appeared as Narasimha and killed Hiranyakashipa. Prahlad Charitham was very well received by the audience. They were seen glued to their seats as the performance was being staged.
