Department of Higher Education (DHE) is going to provide admission in PG courses to the students who have failed to clear the fifth semester examination (cleared fourth semester).

For the purpose, such students would have to submit an undertaking that in case they fail in the special examination, their admission would be cancelled.Earlier, only students who were awaiting results of final semester were allowed to apply in post graduate courses. According to sources, DHE is creating software with help of National Informatics Centre (NIC) for admission process of students with Allowed To Keep Term (ATKT) in fifth semester.

The software will be launched by Wednesday through which provisional admission will be provided to the students. It is worth mentioning that, thousands of students in the State were on the verge of loosing of an academic session as their fifth semester results would have been declared after the admission in the colleges would have closed down.

Krishna Tiwari has passed sixth semester examination of BSc from Government Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM) but he has ATKT in fifth semester. Tiwari said “I had passed sixth semester with first division marks but due to ATKT in fifth semester I was not being allowed to apply for admission in post-graduate course.” Registrations for admission in post-graduate courses were closed on Monday but with special provision students with ATKT will be allowed to take provision admission.

DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan said that students with ATKT have to first submit an undertaking certificate that if they fail in the said examination or if their percentage decrease then their admissions can be cancelled according to the merit list. The decision was taken to intake students with ATKT in sixth semester as according to rules earlier students who have passed second year examination (equivalent to fourth semester) were given provisional admission. Also, DHE has ordered all the universities of state to conduct special ATKT examination so that students can complete their graduation on time.
