The Department of Higher Education (DHE) will allot seats to the students on Thursday, who have applied through the online application system in undergraduate courses. The students will receive SMSs by Thursday evening informing them about the allotted seat.
More than 1,200 Government and private colleges are participating in the online admission process and over three lakh seats are available for admission. Admission will be provided in the courses like BSc, BA, BCom, BBA and BCA with different subject combinations.
More than 3.45 lakh students registered themselves on DHE’s portal while only 2.85 lakh students got their documents verified making them eligible for participating in the online admission process.
These over 2.85 lakh students will be allotted seats in the first round of counselling on Thursday. Seats will be allotted according to merit and choice of college and course filled by the students. Students have to then report to the allotted institute with one set of the verified documents, original documents and fees for admission.
Though the SMS system failed last year, but still the department is depending on it to inform the students. last year, thousands of students learnt about seat allotment very late even in some cases after the last date of admission crossed.
DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan said that most of the problems which occurred during last year’s allotment system have already been sorted out and this year registration system will be also carried out smoothly.
