The Congress, main Opposition, is taking mileage of Madhya Pradesh Assembly by organizing its agitation inside the House. Had this agitation been in the city somewhere else, the State Government would not have taken it seriously. But in the present situation, the State Government and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are seized of the matter. However, the Government does not seem taking any action towards agreeing to the Congress members' demands.
In political circles, this is being considered as a strategic victory of the Congress as it succeeded in utilizing the platform of the State Assembly. And the credit of this success goes to the young and energetic legislators of the Congress who had been pressurizing the leadership for being more aggressive. In the daylong session too, the Congress succeeded in converting the session convened by the State Government to pass the supplementary budget, as pro-farmer. On the request of the Opposition, the House agreed for discussing the issue of farmers' crop damaged due to hailstorm. It was also viewed as a strategic failure of the Government in the House.
By not allowing the Chief Minister to speak out in the House, the Congress members made a mistake, which they realized later and did not repeat it in the daylong special session of March 24. Assembly expert Grija Shankar told 'The Pioneer' that this was a good move by Congress members, as it has lost almost all the elections held in past couple of years. It has been facing allegations of inactiveness. Besides, he claimed that after the defeat in all the polls, both PCC chief Arun Yadav and leader of the Opposition Satyadev Katare are facing problem of getting replaced by the high command.
