The Bhopalites observed Janmashtami (birth of lord Krishna) with a lot of enthusiasm on Monday. Various programmes were organised to mark the occasion.

A cultural programme Vrindavan Ke Phoolo Ki Holi was organised and was organised by Brahmakumari Sansthan at Gulmohar Colony. To observe Janmashtami, the programme first began with traditional customs and rituals. The members of Brahmakumari Sansthan and the residents of Gulmohar Colony together celebrated the birthday of lord Krishna by performing rituals.

later the programme was followed by a grand event where various colourful performances were presented. The event began with presenting the various roopas (forms) of Radha and Krishna. Notably, the love and devotion of Radha and Krishna is like an example for each individual and so their love was wonderfully displayed through this act.

The programme was then followed by Krishna leela where the story of the lord was presented. The chemistry of Krishna and gopis was a spellbinding performance on the occasion. Further, the programme was filled with colours and was followed with Phoolo Ki Holi i.e. the holi played with flower petals and was wrapped with Krishna Jhoola.

Meanwhile, jubilant celebration was also carried out on Monday at Shri lakshmi Narayan Mandir (Birla Mandir), Bhopal. The Managing Committee of this temple planned a grand celebration of Janmashtami in temple premises. On this occasion, the temple remained open from 6 am to 1 am late night and devotees visited Birla Mandir in crowds.

The birth of lord Krishna was observed at 12 midnight. A special pooja as Maha Aarti was performed and the special Panjiree Prasad will be distributed by temple management. Special security measures were arranged for devotees at this juncture.
