The month-long special summer camp being organised for the underprivileged children by the volunteer association SWANS will conclude here on Saturday. To give the summer camp a grand closure, a two-day exhibition-cum-sale will be organised at Government School, lalghati on Saturday and at Ekant Park, Char Imli on Sunday from 7 am to 10 am.
While talking about the summer camp, one of the volunteers Mohsin Khan said, “These few days have proved to be a lifetime experience for the kids and the volunteers. We learnt many new arts including T-shirt printing, leaf and stone painting, making tea coasters and paper bags etc. We also taught dancing skills and organised drama sessions for the children. They have even prepared a play for the day of exhibition.”
Elaborating further, he said, “It’s amazing how these children have learnt new skills in such a short time and have made such beautiful handicrafts for the exhibition. The visitors can buy these handicrafts at a very low price.” Notably at the exhibition-cum-sale, the children will showcase their handwork which they have learnt in the summer camp. The money collected from the exhibition will be used for ensuring a better future for these underprivileged children, he added.
