The authorities are not taking the increasing dengue cases in the city seriously, it seems. Despite having found dengue larvae in several households, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed fines on only eight house owners.
Since July 2015 the number of dengue patients has increased to 100. Moreover, the number of patients reporting sick per day has reached 5 to 6. During the special drive launched by the BMC, till now in more than 10 per cent houses the dengue larvae have been found.
The larvae have been found on more than two occasions in about 800 houses of the city and there is a provision of imposing fine of `500 to `5,000 on each household, but till now only eight residents have paid the fine of `200 each.
Particularly, the BMC squad is responsible for collecting the fine. According to the report by malaria department, this year the dengue larvae have been found in 13,310 houses of the city. The sources said that there were only six per cent patients till July, but it rose to 10 per cent till October.
Moreover, the larvae are found in the areas of Bhopal including, Char Imli, South TT Nagar, Kolar, lalghati, and nearby areas.
A resident of Housing Board Colony Ajay Yadav said the BMC squad does not spray the insecticide regularly. Yadav says that the squad only sprays insecticide in posh areas of the city whereas no preventive method is carried out in interior areas.
Moreover, the district malaria Official, Akhilesh Dubey states that the team is taking continuous steps
but the citizens do not contribute their bit. He says that the locals of Saket Nagar and Arera Colony are not well informed and also they do not contribute their share as well.
