A demand for appointing former Union Minister Kamal Nath as State president of the PCC was raised here on Monday.
Congress legislator Jitu Patwari while talking to mediapersons here on Monday demanded that Nath should not only be made PCC chief, but also be projected as chief ministerial candidate of the party in the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2018.
Patwari has targeted the state leadership here on Monday, stating that if the party wished to win next Assembly elections, it should start taking action from now. After the meeting of the committee formed by state Congress president Arun Yadav over Simhastha mega scam, Patwari said, “There is discontent among the people of the state against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of the state, the Congress needs to work in a planned way from now only than only it could emerge victory in the next assembly elections.”
Patwari while raising questions over the current state leadership of the party demanded change in leadership and further said, “I have talked to the national leadership in this regard and have demanded from the national leadership to shoulder the responsibilities of the state Congress to senior party leader Kamalnath and that he be named as the chief ministerial candidate.”
Though at the same time he said that the state Congress committee is doing well but there is need for doing much better. The people of the state are sick of BJP government and the conditions are so worst that the BJP leaders are leveling corruption charges against their own party government and are opposing the officialdom. BJP MlAs have beaten up officers, all these things point towards change in the state and the people also want to vote for Congress but we are not able to take benefit of this situation as our leadership is not good. Kamalnath is senior leader and he has vision for development, he added.
