The Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal, organised a debate competition on the occasion of World Population Day on Tuesday.

In this competition, 32 students from various schools of Bhopal participated and debated for the motion and against the motion. The theme of the competition was ‘We Should limit the Population Growth’.

Students who debated on ‘for the motion’ explained that the population is one of the serious concerns for the world.

It is an obstacle to the growth of the country and hence it should be controlled.

World Population Day aims at increase people's awareness on various population issues such as the importance of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights etc.

The land is full of biodiversity, greenery, beautiful scenic views but it has now fully changed to its properties.

As the population increased, the man needs also started growing, the need for space, need for resources like food and water crossed the limits and thus causing direct effects on the environment like Air Pollution, Water Pollution, unemployment also increased etc.

On the other hand, students debated against the motion have compared India with China that China believes in Population growth as their Development. More the number of population, the more growth in the County.

This principle is based on “Arthshastra” and human population should be used as manpower for the development and growth of the country.

For the motion, the first prize was won by Rabiya Mujeeb, Second prize won by Master Aditya Shrivastava and Third prize has gone to Anjali Kushwah.

Encouragement prizes were won by Kushagrah, Abheet Tripathi and Ramkrishan Kushwah. For against the motion, the first prize was won by Trisha Pathak, Master Shahbaaz Ahemad got the second position and  Master Kritik Daftari hold the third position.
