With Khajuraho recording 47.5 degree Celsius on Thursday, day temperatures have crossed 47degree Celsius mark in the State for the first time in the season.
Apart from regions with 47 degree Celsius as day temperature more than 10 districts recorded day temperature around 45 degree Celsius.
Nowgong and Damoh recorded day temperature at 47 degree Celsius which were among the regions witnessing high day temperatures.
With few exceptions day temperatures were recorded around and above 45 degree Celsius in the state.
Except Indore and Jabalpur among the major cities and nearby cities day temperatures have been recorded above 45 degree Celsius. Gwalior, Raisen, Hoshangabad recorded day temperature at 45.2 degree Celsius.
Indore remained comparatively cool at 42.6 degree Celsius and Jabalpur recorded 44.4 degree Celsius.
Sagar, Gwalior and Chambal divisions and Satna, Umaria, Rajgarh, Raisen, Khandwa, Khargone and Shajapur districts recorded heat wave conditions in the past 24 hours.
The light showers due to local heating were witnessed only in Sagar division in the past 24 hours.
Intense hot weather conditions would prevail across the state as the hot wave conditions prevailed across the state and warning has been issued by Met department regarding heat wave conditions in Sagar, Gwalior and Chambal divisions and Satna, Umaria, Rajgarh, Raisen, Khandwa, Raisen, Bhopal, Khargone and Shajapur districts in the next 24 hours.
Rewa, Satna and Gwalior recorded light brief showers increasing the humidity.
The state capital recorded day temperature at 44.2 degree Celsius which was recorded with slightest dip from the highest day temperature of the season.
According to the forecast day and night temperatures would be witnessed around 45 and 30 degree Celsius in the state capital and partial clouding along with thundery activities in the evening would be witnessed.
Met department officials said that the temperatures peak in the month of May in the state capital and last year in the month of May state capital had recorded 45.1 degree Celsius as day temperature and possibly this season would witness higher day temperature from last year in the month of May.
