An eight day theatre festival began on Wednesday at Shadow Theatre. On the first day Dastangoi was performed brilliantly.
To commemorate the completion of 20 years of the theatre group by the Shadow Group, the 8-day Shadow Box Theatre Festival started on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Dastangoi was performef under the direction of Mehmood Farooqui. In it actors Rana Pratap Sengar and Ashish Rawat presented Vijaydan Detha's story Chaiboli as Dastangoi. The story was adapted and directed by Mehmood Farooqui of Delhi. Before the performance of the play, a discussion was organized to commemorate the completion of twenty years of the shadow group.
After it famous story writer Vijaydan Detha Chaiboli was presented in Dastangoi. It is the story of Rani Chaboli. Chaboli challenges that if anyone breaks her silence or forces her to speak, she will marry him. She will put the loser in jail. Many accept his challenge and lose. A village Thakur also accepts his challenge. But seeing Chaboli's beauty, he is stunned and lost. He too is put in jail. Thakur's wife accepts Chaiboli's condition by disguising herself as a man in order to free her husband. She narrates three stories to Chaboli. Chaboli gets entangled in the story and gets defeated. Thakur's wife also comes in her original form and tells all the truth to Chaiboli. Chaboli happily frees everyone from captivity.
When Thakur's wife narrates the story. So Chaiboli remains silent then Thakur's wife says that without humping, how can the story proceed… Then the inanimate objects of that room also hum in the middle of the story to give a hum.
