The dance aspirants are learning the fun-filled contemporary dance style in a dance workshop. A six-day contemporary dance workshop is being organised especially for the dance enthusiasts of the city at Utkal Bhavan. Organised by Kirti Ballet and Performing Arts Bhopal, this workshop is for basically youngsters interested in brushing up their skills in dance. The contemporary dance is being taught to the participants by a young contemporary dance Rahul Ahirwar.
Rahul is energetic young dancer who is being trained at Terrence lewis dance academy. Till now he has been a part of many dance workshops. It is noteworthy, that contemporary dance is one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. Although originally informed by and borrowing from classical, modern, and jazz styles, it has since come to incorporate elements from many styles of dance.
Due to its technical similarities, it is often perceived to be closely related to modern dance, ballet and other classical concert dance styles. In terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance tends to utilize both the strong and controlled legwork of ballet and modern dance's stress on the torso, and also employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance. Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used.
Chandra Madhav Barik while informing about the dance workshop, said that a description of body movements and facial expressions will also given to them. Moreover, the students will be taught to match up with the music.
