The dance drama was performed at Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium here on Thursday. Directed by Manju Mani Hatwalne, the dance drama was performed by the artists of Pratibhalaya Arts Academy.

Narrating the tale of goddess Tulsi, the dance drama explained about why it holds significance in Hindu religion.

There are many legends about goddess Tulsi. Among one was the legend of Vishnu and demon Shakhanchuda.

The drama begins with a powerful scene where the artists through the calm and composed dance moves showcase the birth of Tulsi.

A legend narrates that Goddess lakshmi was born to a saint as his daughter Tulsi Vrinda.

Tulsi Vrinda was a great devotee of lord Vishnu.

Due to her sincerity towards her husband it was next to impossible to kill demon Shankhachuda. The legends say that it was impossible for gods to kill him. But, on the instruction by lord Shiva, Vishnu turns into Shankhachuda only to kills the real demon.

He destroys the chastity of Vrinda to lead the death of Shankhachuda. In this legend Tulsi curses Vishnu to turn into a stone and Vishnu transforming Vrinda into a plant.

With the vibrant light design and an intelligent use of the backdrop the entire dance drama was impressive. The Carnatic music added much charm in the presentation as the artists beautifully narrated the legendry tale of goddess Tulsi.

Prior to dance drama, Tanishka Hatwalne performed Bharatnatyam as Purva Rang. She began with Pushpanjali which was followed with padam, narrating the acts by lord Krishna.
