It is to be noted that the World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year and is the United Nation’s principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. This year the theme for 2017 is 'Connecting people to nature in the city and on the land, from the poles to the equator'.

The series of fun began with the Skating competition in the morning.

The competition was all about the children holding slogans to save environment and giving a tough competition to each other. The next competition was all about showcasing the creativity over the canvas.

A painting competition was then organised at the art hall of Jawahar Bal Bhavan. The participants beautifully showcased the best of their creations over the paper. With the use of vibrant colours the participants portrayed their perceptions over paper. Some participants showed the ill effects of water, noise and air pollution over environment while some portrayed about planting more trees.

Each painting was beautiful and unique in its manner. Some of the participants, however, wrote the slogans on their paintings giving out a clear message to save environment.

After the painting competition, a session on World Environment Day was held. The participants were told about the day.

It was followed with the felicitation programme. Children from 5 years to 16 years of age enthusiastically participated in each competition. More than 300 participants were present to mark the occasion.
