Chief Secretary Sudhi Ranjan Mohanty reviewed wheat procurement arrangements on support price for Rabi season 2019-20 through video conference at Mantralaya on Friday.
Mohanty directed all the Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors that numbers and feasibility of all the procurement centers should be reviewed. Convenience of transportation should be kept in mind. He mentioned that while loading wheat in truck for transportation, payment note should be provided to farmers to accelerate procurement process. He instructed to put one tag in place of two tags during the wheat procurement.
Besides, the Chief Secretary said that the SMS system will be decentralized at district level soon under the procurement process. He directed Collectors to remain constantly active by maintaining necessary coordination at district level for warehousing system. Mohanty said that necessary arrangements like drinking water, cooler, public announcement system and provision for food on concessional rates should be ensured in mandis during the wheat procurement.
He also obtained information from the collectors about procurement centers, expected arrival and warehousing arrangements and other matters related to the procurement arrangement.
Principal Secretary Cooperative Ajit Kesri, Principal Secretary to CM and Ashok Barnval, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Neelam Shami Rao and officers of the department were present at the video conference.
