The city has a rich heritage of historical value and we should restore these marvellous structures to their original form, said Chief Secretary Antony Disa during his visit to some of the monuments here on Sunday.

Disa assured that the administration would provide all kinds of necessary help in the conservation of the historical Government heritages and at the same time he instructed senior officials to coordinate with the owners of historical heritage and discuss the issue of restoration and conservation.

Sadar Manzil, Hameed Manzil, Shaukat Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Iqbal Maidan Sidhi Ghat and Gauhar Mahal were visited and inspected by the Disa.

During the visit, BMC Commissioner Ashwini S Naik detailed the Chief Secretary on the structures.

Retired IAS officer Pukhraj Maru and Waseem Akhtar and Additional Collector Chandramauli Shukla were also present during the visit.

First floor, second floor and ground floor of Sadar Manzil were inspected. He discussed the details of Sadar Manzil with Naik. Sadar Manzil, which has rich heritage value, has doors, windows and walls carved beautifully. The lawns, pillars and different rooms have been well planned and designed in an elegant manner which makes the building a rich heritage structure.

In the restoration and conservation process of the heritage structures the shops which are situated in the heritage structures at the main roads should be managed properly, instructed Disa during the visit.

The encroachment around the main doors of these structures should be removed to make them easily accessible and save these structures from damage caused by these encroachments. Restoration of these structures in their original form should be done after removing encroachment. Instructions to maintain these heritage structures in a better manner were also given by Disa.
