The police on Thursday registered a criminal case of abetment to commit suicide against five persons in connection with the suicide committed by a builder, but they are still out of police reach.
The police have already banned the money lending by private persons in Madhya Pradesh around three years ago, but it was surprising that such money lenders were operating in the State capital.
After registering an FIR, the police are on the look out only for five persons made accused in the case, but the administration is still not investigating towards searching for similar money lenders in Bhopal and other parts of the State.
The victim 36-year-old builder Rishabh Tripathi had committed suicide at his home in Bhopal’s Arera Colony on Wednesday.
In the suicide note left by him, he stated that he was being harassed by moneylenders and friends who had given him loans.
It was also mentioned in the note that he was being mentally tortured by moneylenders from whom he had taken a loan of Rs 50 lakh. The note said he had paid them more than Rs 50 lakh in interest alone, but they kept asking for more.
The note said that to repay the loan, he borrowed money from his friends, who, too, had started pressuring him to return it.
“I am neither dishonest nor a fraud,” the father of two sons, aged eight and two, wrote in the note. Habibganj police station in-charge Sudhir Arjaria said that police have launched a hunt for the accused and conducting raids at a number of places in this regard.
