Criminal and Crime Tracking Network Systems to be used across State

Published on:

After the trials of new software across 38 districts in the State, the Sate police would use Criminal and Crime Tracking Network Systems (CCTNS) across the State from July 1.

The criminal records would be accessible at police stations and the CCTNS would be helpful in registering FIR, daily reports and statements and records maintained by investigating officers during the investigation.

In the State, registration of FIR in computers has already been started but they lack connectivity with other computers at other police stations and the connectivity would be functional from July 1 across the state. The interconnectivity would help in searching of the criminal records with ease which used to be a difficult and time consuming task earlier.

The Rs86 crore project had earlier failed to take off due to technical problem at the initial stages. The earlier software faced several problems after which Wipro Company was assigned for developing new software.

For the past two years, the State police missed several deadlines declared for starting fully functional CCTNS but now the police officials are claiming that the system would not face problems and would become operational soon.

Senior Officials have claimed that few places are facing connectivity issues and work to maintain proper and smooth connectivity is

under process which would be done soon to make

system functional.

Around 1384 offices including 956 police stations would be connected under CCTNS. The trials of new software have been started in 38 districts. After the trials CCTNS system has been started in 16 districts.
