Crime branch Bhopal nabbed five miscreants and seized 17 boxes of illegal liquor worth ` 45000 of illegal liquor from Gunga area on Wednesday; illegal liquor was seized from a vehicle and a hotel in the area.
Acting on a tip off vehicle bearing registration number MP04-CM-8453 was traced at Arvalia trisection and when the vehicle was searched two boxes of liquor near the driver’s seat were found and two boxes of liquor were found person sitting at the back seat and when they were questioned regarding the license for carrying the liquor he failed to produce any documents.
At the time when the vehicle was searched police received information that the vehicle has unloaded few boxes of liquor at a hotel at Aravalia and when the hotel was raided three miscreants were nabbed and recovered 13 boxes of illegal liquor.
In the initial investigation police found 17 boxes of illegal liquor worth Rs 45000.
The nabbed miscreants were identified as Anand Kumar Kashyap (35), Upendra Patel (30), Hotam Singh (50), Sanjay Singh (24) and Dinesh Tiwari (50).
Hotam and Sanjay were involved in selling illegal liquor, Anand and Upendra help in the transportation of the illegal liquor while Dinesh keeps record of the boxes of the illegal liquor.
Except Anand all others are residents of Bhopal. Anand is resident of Dohara Shyampur.
Hotam runs a hotel, Anand works as driver, Upendra works as helper, Dinesh is manager with private firm and Sanjay is pursuing engineering from private college.
Police have started further investigation to unearthed the nexus working behind illegal liquor business.
