Refusing further police remand for the PMT impersonation racket kingpin Dr Jagdish Singh Sagar, the court of First Session Judicial Magistrate BK Tyagi sent the accused on a judicial remand till August 6 here on Monday.
Dr Sagar, who was arrested by a crime branch team of Indore police early this month, had been on five days of police remand which ended on July 27. After end of his police remand Dr Sagar was summoned in the court of First Session Judicial Magistrate on Monday where the police sought further police remand for the accused but the court refused to oblige and sent the accused on judicial remand till August 6.
After his arrest by the crime branch team, Dr Sagar, who was found to be a major conduit for the Madhya Pradesh PMT impersonation racket involving over 250 students, had been summoned in the local court on July 22 this month from where he was sent on five days of police remand, acceding to request of the police officials who sought more time from the court to grill the accused in connection with the racket.
Ever since his arrest, the crime branch probe into the case has been coming with new revelations every day regarding the modus operandi of Dr Sagar about how he lured students into his racket in league with the officials of the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examinaiton Board. Digging further into the racket, Indore police few days back had arrested three VYAPAM officials namely Nitin Mahindra, Ajay Soni and PK Mishra for their alleged role in the impersonation racket.
Soon after his arrest, Indore police raided the residence of Sagar thrice in the last few days and stumbled upon incriminating documents showing his investment in various properties in Indore and outside, besides seizing large amount of cash, ornaments and other valuables from his residential premises. Scrutiny of documents by the police revealed that Dr Sagar owned a number of immovable property (houses/flats) in Indore alone, besides other locations.
