Mayor Alok Sharma’s working style is not only impressing his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators ruling the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) but the Opposition Congress corporators and independents have also become fans of his working pattern.
Shabana Shahid Ali, Congress Corporator from ward number 9 while talking to ‘The Pioneer’ said, “Sharma seems having will of doing some good for the city. Unlike the former mayor, Sharma is always available to hear the problems of Corporators, be they of any party. Besides, prior to general body meeting of the Corporation he calls to ask for suggestions and proposals if any from the Corporators.”
Syed Shahid Ali, a two time former Corporator and husband of ward 9 Corporator Shabana said, “Never before a mayor came to power who not only asked for proposals from the Corporators but also deputed BMC officials to collect these proposals and instructs them to make it sure that work is done on the these proposals.”
Similarly, Mohammed Saud, independent Corporator from ward number 8 feels the mayor is willing to end corruption from the Corporation. He instructs the Daroga’s to not become friendly with the contractors and always insists on quality of the work. “Besides, tells us to make sure that the contractors are not relatives, this is good tradition and we hope that the attitude of mayor and his willingness would certainly bring in change in the city,” he added.
Mewalal, another independent from ward number 11 said, “I am impressed by the working style of mayor, especially the cleanliness drive carried out by him in that we gets the chance to come face to face with our electorate. I hope that the face of Bhopal would undergo tremendous changes in his tenure.”
Mahesh Makwana, BJP Corporator from ward number 10 and Mayor in Council (MiC) member said that it is the good luck of Bhopal that it has got a mayor like Sharma. Under him it is for the first time that the MiC members got the chance to sit with the BMC officials of their respective departments for preparing budget. We have got free hand for the first time with only one condition that to work honestly for the development of city, he added.
