Gandhi Nagar police seized around 1,000 bottles of illicit county liquor worth Rs60,000 from a car near Raja Bhoj airport late in the night on Sunday. No arrests have been made, but the car owner has been tracked and would be questioned regarding the liquor. Station House Officer of Gandhi Nagar police Jitendra Patel said that at around 12 in the night, acting on a tip-off, 20 cartons of country liquor were seized from a white coloured Tata Indica bearing registration number MP04-BA-2984.
The car owner has been traced as Sanjay Malviya of Kolar area, who would be questioned regarding the liquor. The illegal transport would be traced as at the moment the liquor was brought from which place would not be ascertained but the car’s owner has been traced which could help in the investigation, he added. Police said that the car was seized near the airport and there are possibilities that the illicit liquor was brought from Indore.
Police have not revealed the details of the person detained with the car. Police said the accused would be questioned regarding the liquor above the permissible limit and where the liquor was scheduled to be delivered. After the preliminary investigation, a case under Excise Act was registered and further investigations have been started.
