In a joint operation, the Bhopal crime branch and the Misrod police nabbed a miscreant from 11 Mile Square area under suspicious circumstances and recovered a country-made pistol and live cartridge on Tuesday.
Crime branch officials said that acting on a tip-off that a man was roaming under suspicious circumstances at 11 Mile area, a joint team of crime branch and Misrod police rushed to the spot and caught the man. When searched, the police recovered the firearm from his possession.
When the detained person was questioned he was identified as Anwar. In the initial investigation it was found that the circumstances under which the miscreant was nabbed suggest that he was on his way to commit crime but was nabbed before that. The miscreant is a resident of Chandbad area and deals in share market. The accused has also links with the notorious criminals of the city.
Police said that it is possible that the miscreant had some target which he was scheduled to hit or it is possible that the miscreant was involved in extortion and was extorting money from someone of the locality. The police have registered a case under Arms Act and have started further investigation.
It is possible that the network of illegal arm traders and buyers would be unearthed and several other crimes would be confirmed by the accused in the further investigation. The source of country-made pistol and cartridge has yet to obtained from the accused. In the initial probe it was found that the accused has criminal record.
