The MP Nagar Police have seized 18 kg of cannabis worth Rs 3.6 lakh from an auto rickshaw in the night on Sunday.
The action was taken after receiving information from the drug peddler who was identified as Manoj Nayak.
Police have seized an auto rickshaw bearing registration number MP04RA1341 and seized gunny bags carrying Cannabis weighing 18 kg.
Police said that acting on a tip-off regarding an auto rickshaw near Rachna Nagar under brigde team was rushed to spot and tracked the auto rickshaw. The accused failed to provide any detail of the drugs seized from the autorickshaw.
Police said that the details of procurement and delivery of the drugs would be probed in the further investigation. After the initial investigation, the police have registered a case under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act.
The source of the drugs and their scheduled delivery to the customer in the city and nearby areas would be probed.
The accused confessed that he was involved in drug peddling to make fast money and has delivered drugs in the nearby areas which would fetch him good money.
The drugs are part of nexus which are brought from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha through train and which are dumped near railway track before Bhopal and Habibganj railway stations late in the night and later local aides took consignment for further transport.
