Two days after the kidnapping attempt of a 21-year-old engineering student near Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office, police is still clueless. Even after seizing the vehicle used in the kidnapping attempt, police are not able to trace the whereabouts of the accused, who tried to kidnap a girl student.
The abducters failed in their attempt as the victim jumped off the moving auto rickshaw. SHO of Govindpura police station RK Malviya said that few have been detained but the process of zeroing on the accused has to be completed. At the moment, it could be said that the accused was alone and no one was present to help her.
The claims made by the victim of being forcefully pulled inside the auto rickshaw are yet to be verified. The intentions of the accused are also still not clear. The victim was questioned regarding the attack and she claimed that the she was not aware of the accused, he added.
Auto rickshaw, which was seized by the police, has been checked and would help in the finding the accused but the possibility of the manipulation of the number on the vehicle could not be denied and would be investigated, claimed the police.
Notably, the accused tried to kidnap the victim near DRM office on Thursday when the victim was returning and was speaking over phone but after she raised an alarm and jumped from the moving vehicle and several people gathered at the spot, the accused left the auto rickshaw and fled the spot.
The victim sustained minor injuries and later lodged a complaint with the Govindpura police. Police have recovered some items, which include sharp-edged weapon, but have denied the recovery and claimed that the investigation is under process.
